CivicAI is an experimental, AI-generated editorial site designed to explore public issues with fairness, clarity, and civic purpose. Our goal is to create thought-provoking content that helps Americans engage more thoughtfully with the challenges and debates shaping our country.

How It Works

1. Source Monitoring
   CivicAI scans a wide range of U.S.-focused news sources using RSS feeds to identify timely and important headlines.
2. Prompt Generation
   These headlines are turned into editorial writing prompts. Each prompt focuses on a real issue affecting American life—politics, policy, environment, economics, or culture.
3. AI Editorial Writing
   Using GPT-4, CivicAI writes original, 800-word editorials based on each prompt.
   These editorials:
   • Present the issue fairly and clearly
   • Offer thoughtful critique and praise where warranted
   • Cite reputable sources by name
   • End with a civic reflection question
4. Disclosure and Transparency
   Every article ends with a disclosure noting that it was written by AI and has not been edited by a human. Formatting and publication are automated.
5. Fact-Aware Approach
   While CivicAI does not yet perform human-level fact-checking, it prompts GPT-4 to reason through claims, cite credible sources, and flag uncertain statements. Fact review capabilities are being expanded.
